Thankfully, there are plenty of schools scattered across the area that serve families in its pretty towns and villages, with a good number of these being ranked highly by inspectors. From seaside towns like Weymouth to inland areas like Thame, finding the very best schools isn’t always easy. So to help, here’s our quick guide to some of the top schools in the South West.  

Best primary schools in the South West

  • Bishop Road Primary School

If you live in the Bristol area, Bishop Road Primary is one of the top-ranked schools for your children to attend. It has a superb reputation, is rated as outstanding by Ofsted, and is around 10 miles from our Ladden Garden Village development in Yate.

  • Moordown St John’s Church of England Primary School

  • Pate’s Grammar School

This Cheltenham grammar school has been noted as one of the best in the country, featuring highly on national league tables. A Level and GCSE exam results are superb, making this a highly desirable school among parents in the area.

  • Colyton Grammar School

A mixed secondary just north of Seaton in Devon, Colyton Grammar also produces excellent exam results. If you live to the east of Exeter, you may find you fall within this fantastic school’s catchment area.

  • Stroud High School

  • The Cheltenham Ladies’ College

If you live in the South West best schools can also mean independents, and this one is among the highest-rated in the region. Girls aged between 11 and 18 can attend, either on a day or boarding basis.

  • King Edward’s School

This historic independent school in Bath has been ranked among the very best private schools in the South West. With a heritage that dates back to the mid-16th century and being only a short drive from our Hunters Wood site, little ones can start their learning here from the age of 3.

  • Exeter School

Looking after children aged 7 to 18, Exeter School is close to the heart of the city and down the road from another top independent, the Maynard School. Both establishments are well known for their strong levels of attainment.
