New Homes in Bedford

Make the Move

The market town of Bedford is located in Bedfordshire in Eastern England. Sitting on the banks of the River Great Ouse in London’s Commuter Belt, and filled with history, culture and attractions; Bedford is an ideal location for buying a new home.

DWH offers delightful new homes for sale in Bedford as well as in surrounding locations such as Great Denham, Wixams, Marston Moretaine, Lidlington, Milton Keynes, Biddenham, and Biggleswade.

Things to see and do

Bedford has a fascinating past, which you can see at several museums. The John Bunyan Museum, tells the story of the famous author, pastor and preacher who lived from 1628 – 1688 and showcases 17th century Bedford.

The Panacea Museum is another option which sheds light on the ‘Panacea Society’; a religious community that originally lived and worshiped in Bedford. Their unique beliefs – such as that Bedford was the Garden of Eden – are documented in the museum, along with the origins and history of the group.

Other museums and galleries in the town include Rock City Art, which is dedicated to music photography. Here you can buy limited edition photography from the past five decades. The South Bank Arts Centre and Higgins Bedford are further great options.

Bedford has a thriving food scene. Known for its vibrant Italian community, a great selection of family restaurants can be sampled, where authentic favourites are served up, while pubs offering traditional British cuisine can be found in the town, along with a variety of Asian restaurants.

Staying true to its market town routes, shopping in Bedford is great. An eclectic selection of markets regularly fill the town, such as Bedford Gourmet Market where impressive treats can be purchased, and Bedford Farmer’s market which serves up local produce. The Garden Market and Arts and Crafts Fair offer enjoyable browsing territory, while June welcomes a Continental Market offering produce from Europe.

If you’re looking for a relaxing sport, and to practice your swing, you’ll have no problem finding somewhere as Bedfordshire has more than 200 golf courses.

The John Bunyan Boat offers trips along the river, while other options for relaxation include Bedford Castle Mount and Embankment Gardens. Here, the remains of the Saxon Castle Mound offer visitors superb views of the River Great Ouse and the Embankment. Stroll through the Victorian Gardens and admire the beautiful display of colourful flowers.
