Things to see and do

Showcasing specialist stores, independent boutiques and historic markets, Buckingham is a shopper’s dream.

Dating back 600 years, street markets are held every Tuesday and Saturday with a wide range of goods on offer from award-winning bread to flowers, tools and clothes. A flea market every Saturday is the best place to bag a bargain, while food lovers can get their fix at the Artisan Food Fair on the third Sunday of every month.

Showcasing an array of 18th century Georgian buildings, the attractive town features the old Gaol at its centre, now a museum offering permanent and temporary exhibitions. Further highlights include The Chantry Chapel, The Old Town Hall and The Church of St Peter & St Paul.

Time out and relaxation can be enjoyed at one of the town’s many green spaces or on its extensive footpath network. An ideal way to experience its highlights is by taking the circular walk, which passes through Bourton Park with its special dog exercising area, Chandos Park and the Great River Ouse.

Throughout the year, a selection of festivals and events can be enjoyed such as the Fringe Week and Summer Festival, Band Jam and Music in the Market.
