Wetherby’s surrounding area is packed with great ways to spend your free time. From the interesting Plumpton Rocks to Harewood House and Bramham Park, York and Harrogate are both wonderful places to visit. There’s a collection of local castles to explore, as well as the 2,000 acres of Stockeld Park, which lays on different attractions throughout the year perfect for family days out.
Back in the heart of town, the River Wharfe lends a pleasant ambience to the centre of Wetherby. Things are a little more intense at the fun-filled Kanyu Escape just south of the town centre across Wetherby Bridge, while Sandringham Park and the Georgian Bathhouse are must-sees.

There’s a great selection of local schools, with a number classed as outstanding by Ofsted. This includes the centrally located Crossley Street Primary and St Joseph’s Catholic Primary, as well as St Edward’s Catholic Primary in the village of Boston Spa just south of Wetherby.
The West Oaks Specialist School and College can also be found in Boston Spa, and is another outstanding option for kids aged two to 19. Wetherby High School and Boston Spa Academy are two more secondary options that are rated as good by Ofsted.

The A1(M) passes just to the east of Wetherby, providing the town with instant access to the UK’s motorway network. You don’t need to use this road to get to Leeds, which is less 13 miles away, while the town’s conveniently located for a range of other hubs in the region, including Harrogate and York.
Wetherby doesn’t have its own train station, but there are plenty of local bus routes you can use to get around. And when you set your sights further afield, Leeds Bradford Airport is just under 15 miles from town, ideal for holidays abroad.
