New Homes in Hull

Standing on the north bank of the Humber Estuary, Kingston upon Hull is a lively city offering history, culture, entertainment and attractions.

Set to be the UK City of Culture in 2017, there is plenty going on, making buying a new home in Kingston upon Hull is a great choice.

Things to see and do

The old town of Kingston upon Hull, allows you to step back in time as you discover its cobbled streets and Georgian and Edwardian architecture.

The Museum Quarter is found here and provides some of the city’s free museums. The Streetlife Museum will educate you on 200 years of transport history, while Wilberforce House allows you to discover the birthplace of William Wilberforce, a leading figure in the anti-slavery movement.

For shopping you’ll find plenty of choice in Hull. Here you can take your pick from high street favourites and vintage boutiques in one of the three shopping centres of St Stephen’s, Princes Quay and the Prospect Centre.

Time out can be enjoyed in Hull’s largest park, East Park. Dating back to 1887 when it was built to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee, the 130 acres offer great picnicking territory, while all the family can enjoy the Splash Boat - just one of three in the country. The aviary, animal education centre and boating lake are all further highlights.

Take a trip to an underwater world with a trip to the Deep where you’ll learn all about the world’s oceans. See marine life such as turtles, penguins, sharks and rays along with interactive exhibitions and audio-visual presentations.

Education

Hull has a selection of primary and secondary schools and is also home to the University of Hull for those looking to go on to higher education. Here you can take a number of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

Transport links

Hull has great transport links by road, rail or air.

The main road into the city is the M62 motorway/A63 road, which is one of the major east-west roads in Northern England. It offers a link to Manchester (one hour and 44 minutes), Leeds (one hour and 3 minutes) and Liverpool (two hours and 10 minutes), as well as the rest of the country via the UK motorway network. The Humber Bridge provides links to destinations south of the Humber.

Hull Paragon Interchange is where you’ll find the major bus and train terminal. Up to seven express trains a day run to London, while other destinations are easily reachable by train such as Leeds in just over an hour and Manchester in just under two hours.

The nearest airport is Leeds Bradford International Airport, around an hour and a half by road. From here you can get a variety of domestic and international flights.
