New homes in Bingley

Make the Move

Located in the Aire Valley in West Yorkshire’s Bronte Country the small town of Bingley offers country living, alongside history, culture and attractions.

Buying a new home in Bingley offers all this and more, giving you the best of both worlds.

Things to see and do

The wild Pennine moors are Bingley’s main attraction and popular with walkers, hikers and ramblers. The rugged terrain offers the perfect landscape for bracing walks, with long-distance routes such as the Pennine way reachable from Bingley. Further options include Bronte Way, the Bradford Millennium Footpath and the Great Northern Trail.

Literature enthusiasts will enjoy heading to the famous site of Top Withens, a ruined farmhouse said to have been the inspiration for a property featured in ‘Wuthering Heights’.  Start the route at Penistone Hill to take in the sights of Bronte Waterfall, the Bronte Chair and Bronte Bridge along the way. However, if heading out on to the Moors alone sounds daunting, guided walks can be booked.

The town has a strong connection with water, with the Leeds-Liverpool canal running through Bingley. Watch boats take on the challenging Five Rise Locks or look out for the historic Ireland Bridge crossing the River Aire.

Further attractions close to Bingley include Myrtle Park, the World Heritage Site of Saltaire and the village of Haworth. Here you’ll find Haworth Parsonage, originally home to the Bronte sisters and now a museum. Visit to see the location where the famous writers were inspired to dream up their most famous works such as Jane Eyre.

The National Media Museum in nearby Bradford is a further attraction, as are Keighley Bus Museum and the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. The village of Cottingley is close by and was home to Elsie Wright and Frances Griffiths, the two girls who famously photographed fairies at the end of their garden and claimed they were real!
