A quick history

Rugeley is first mentioned in the Domesday book, but the town’s name originates from Old English. During the medieval era Rugeley was known for iron and glass manufacturing, and later at the time of the Industrial Revolution, the town boomed thanks to new transportation routes from the Trent and Mersey Canal. By the 1950s Rugeley was a major coal mining and market town.
