What is life like in the East Midlands?

Whether you’re drawn to the hive of activity in major regional cities like Nottingham and Leicester, or a quiet country lifestyle is for you, the East Midlands is a diverse place with a wide range of property. Buying a new home isn’t always easy, so it’s great that you can take advantage of offers like our Deposit Boost or Deposit Unlock schemes

What is there to see and do in the East Midlands?

From pretty coastline to the Lincolnshire Wolds and the Peak District, there’s spectacular natural scenery right across the East Midlands. The region is popular for its walking trails, mountains and beaches, perfect for all different kinds of requirements. There are plenty of cultural attractions to visit too, including an array of museums, galleries and historic castles.

Nottingham Castle is one of the finest examples of this, while there’s lots more to do besides in this exciting city. From sporting arenas to motor racing circuits, country parks and nature reserves, don’t miss the National Space Centre in Leicester or the nods to local legend Robin Hood across the region.

What is education like in the East Midlands?

There are lots of excellent schools across the East Midlands, with a higher concentration of options close to the region’s major towns and cities. Nottingham, Leicester and Loughborough are known for being home to a number of outstanding schools and universities, while our new build homes in the East Midlands are usually located close to schools rated as good or outstanding by Ofsted.

How are the East Midlands transport links?

The western part of the East Midlands has excellent transport links, offering easy access to other parts of the region, as well as to West Midlands hotspots like Birmingham. The M1 motorway runs through this area of the region, providing a direct route to London in the south and Sheffield, Leeds and the North East in the opposite direction.

The east of the region is mainly connected by a network of A roads, as well as the M180 in the north. There are plenty of bus and rail routes across the East Midlands, with the highest concentration once again found in the west. This is where you’ll also find East Midlands Airport, which lies in the middle of Derby, Nottingham and Leicester.

What is the East Midlands property scene like?

You can find a comprehensive range of properties to suit all kinds of budgets in the East Midlands, where houses prices are slightly lower than the average in the West Midlands. They’re considerably cheaper than the East of England, but higher than the Yorkshire and the Humber region.

Lincolnshire is the most affordable East Midlands county to buy a new home in, while you can find exciting new developments in places like LoughboroughCoalville and the Littleover area of Derby. Whether you want to live in Fleckney just outside Leicester, close to the heart of the Peak District in Derbyshire or in the Bingham area of Nottingham, don’t miss offers like our Part Exchange initiative for some extra help with your next house purchase.
