If you live in a house rather than an apartment, you’ll probably have a loft space, usually reached through a hatch in the ceiling of a top floor landing or room.
Your loft is not a living area and is not designed for storage. If you do need to go into the loft be careful to only step on the wooden beams and not in between, as you could break through the ceiling below!
You may have ‘loose’ insulation quilt laid in between the ceiling joists, or your home may have been built using a prefabricated roof system, which will include the insulation in the sloping ceiling.
Your loft isn’t designed for storage. We wouldn’t recommend it for such because:
Daylight can enter your loft space and this is likely to be from air vents in your roof, which assist with ventilation.
