Things to see and do in Godalming


The centre of town is packed with history, not least in buildings such as the 12th-century Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul. You can learn more about the town’s rich heritage at Godalming Museum, before going for a stroll through the Phillips Memorial Cloister or taking to the tennis courts next to Godalming Cricket Club. 


Munstead Wood and its horse trails lie on the edge of town, as does Almshouse Meadow and a selection of local golf courses. Hankley Common is the place to go for peaceful walks, while the South Downs are even more open as they stretch out not far from town. The Surrey Hills are also nearby, while the centre of London is just over 30 miles away. 


Education


There’s a superb selection of schools for your children to attend in and around Godalming. Options for little ones include Busbridge Infant School, which is rated as outstanding by Ofsted, while the same goes for St Mary’s CofE and Puttenham CofE to the north west of town. Local secondaries Rodborough and Broadwater School are both classed as good by the education board, while Godalming College is outstanding. 


Transport links in Godalming


The A3 passes close to Godalming, on its way north east to London from the south coast. You can drive into the heart of the capital in under an hour with good traffic, while places like Guildford and Tongham are just over 10 minutes away. Godalming train station is in the west of town, and provides services to London Waterloo which take less than 45 minutes.
