Things to see and do in Quorn
The heart of the village is a pleasant place to spend some time, full of greenery and welcoming local shops, pubs and restaurants. A selection of bowling clubs lies along Loughborough Road, while there are a number of fields, parks and playgrounds within the village’s boundary.
Moving away from the centre reveals wider open spaces such as Breedon Hill, Swithland Reservoir and Bradgate Park, where you can enjoy quiet walks around Cropston Reservoir. From Beacon Hill Country Park to Wanlip Meadows and King Lear’s Lake, Watermead Country Park is a must-visit if you love spending time exploring the great outdoors.
Education
St Bartholomew’s CofE is the local primary school in Quorn. It’s just off Warwick Avenue close to the village centre and is rated as good by Ofsted. Woodhouse Eaves St Paul’s CofE and Swithland St Leonard’s CofE are just south of Quorn but accept pupils from the village, and both are classed as outstanding by the education board. Loughborough Road’s Rawlins Academy is good, according to Ofsted, and the most popular choice for children in the village when they move on to secondary school.
Transport links in Quorn
Quorn is bypassed by the A6, which you can jump on to drive to Loughborough in just over five minutes. This is where you’ll find the closest train station to Quorn. Leicester is a 15-minute drive in the opposite direction, with Nottingham and Derby both within half an hour of the village. If you need to drive to Birmingham, you can cover that in around 50 minutes, depending on traffic.
The Quorn property market
Quorn has a strong property market, although local housing stock is limited by the small size of the village. You’ll need to be quick in this area, while you should also consider nearby spots such as East Leake and Hugglescote if you want to buy a new build home.
