A quick history

West Bromwich was first mentioned in the Domesday Book in the 11th century, while a Benedictine priory was built in the 12th century. By the 18th century West Bromwich was a coaching town on the route between London and Shrewsbury, which helped the town to grow.Coal was discovered in the local area in the 19th century, and industries including nail and spring making began to thrive. West Bromwich was badly damaged by German bombs during the Second World War, but today it’s a thriving commuter town.
