10 miles from Kirkliston is the lively and historic city of Edinburgh. Filled with attractions and great shopping, all the benefits of the Scottish capital are on your doorstep.
Experience the history of the city by visiting Edinburgh Castle. The ruins sit high above Princes Street Gardens and visitors can enjoy views from its great height. Highlights include the Crown Jewels and Stone of Destiny, while costumed and performance events regularly take place.

Great for shopping, Princes Street is the place to head if you’re looking for high street brands, while Multrees Walk has high-end retailers.  If you want Scottish goods, the Royal Mile provides a variety of traditional items such as tartan and whiskey.
Further attractions include the Museum of Edinburgh, Holyrood Park, St Giles Cathedral and Real Mary King’s Close. If you’re looking to do something in the evening, there is a great range of restaurants to choose from. The University of Edinburgh offers students the opportunity to study in the capital with 500 degree courses. The nearby University of Glasgow is a further option for those wanting to go on to higher education.

Transport Links

Kirkliston has good transport links. Located close to the M9, Edinburgh can be reached in less than half an hour, while Glasgow takes just 45 minutes. South Queensferry is just over two miles away and will take you five minutes to reach.

For those travelling by train, Dalmeny Station is just a 10 minute walk from South Queensferry town centre. Edinburgh can be reached in 19 minutes from here, Glasgow in one hour and 17 minutes and Newcastle in two hours and four minutes.

For those travelling further afield, Edinburgh Airport is just over 3 miles away and can be reached in 10 minutes.
