Today Swadlincote is a commuter town, with easy transport routes to nearby towns and cities including Nottingham and Derby. It’s also home to a number of manufacturing businesses.

Travel and commuting

Swadlincote is well-connected to a number of major towns and cities in the East Midlands. Although there’s no train station in the town, nearby Burton-upon-Trent has regular rail services. From Swadlincote the journey to Burton-upon-Trent takes 15 minutes, while Derby can be reached in 30 minutes by car, Loughborough in 35 minutes and Leicester in 40 minutes. Nottingham and Birmingham are both 40 minutes away by car, while the drive to London takes two hours 40 minutes. The train from Derby to St Pancras International is quicker than car journey, with a journey time of one hour 40 minutes.

When it’s time to go on holiday or take a business trip, East Midlands Airport is only a 20-minute drive away, and Birmingham Airport can be reached in 40 minutes.
