Make the Move

Scotland is a country of contrasts, from the untamed Cairngorms to the lovely Isle of Skye. Scotland’s countryside is beautiful, and its cities are equally lively; with creative Glasgow, lovely Edinburgh and coastal Aberdeen all important parts of Scotland’s culture.

New homes in Scotland have a mix of both country and city life making them ideal for everyone.

Places of interest

Scotland has an endless number of places to visit for adventure and relaxation. There are two Scottish national parks; Cairngorms National Park, and Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. The Grampian Mountain range is home to the highest point of the British Isles, Ben Nevis, standing at a height of 4,409 feet.

The two largest cities in Scotland - Glasgow and Edinburgh - have many interesting places. In Edinburgh, there’s Arthur’s Seat, Edinburgh Castle and the Scottish National Gallery. The internationally renowned annual Edinburgh Comedy Festival is extremely popular and well worth attending.

In Glasgow, the Kelvingrove Art Museum and Gallery is just one of numerous cultural attractions. It’s also where Scotland’s two biggest football teams, Celtic and Rangers, play their Scottish Premier League home matches.

As the birth place of golf, Scotland has a large number of golf courses, including Gleneagles, Carnoustie and Royal Troon.

Educational facilities

Scotland has many universities. The three most notable are the University of Edinburgh, University of Glasgow and University of St Andrews, whose alumni include the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Transport links

A trip from Edinburgh to London takes around seven hours by car, four hours by train or an hour and 15 minutes by plane. In contrast, a trip to London from Inverness takes nine hours by car, eight hours by train and one hour and 20 minutes by plane.

Scotland is served by a number of motorways as far north as Edinburgh and Glasgow - including the M74, M77 and M8. Further north, A roads provide the main routes between towns, including the A9 up to Inverness and the A90 to Aberdeen.

Scotland is served by four major airports: Edinburgh, Glasgow, Glasgow Prestwick and Aberdeen. Regional airports connect Scotland with many cities and towns across England, Wales and Ireland.

Travel between Scotland’s major cities is best served by road and rail. A car journey from Edinburgh to Aberdeen takes two hours and 20 minutes, Edinburgh to Inverness is three hours and the route from Edinburgh to Glasgow, along the M8, takes one hour.
