New homes in Caerwent

New homes in Caerwent

Situated in Monmouthshire with rich ancient history, the Welsh village of Caerwent dates back thousands of years. Built around Roman ruins, the town offers tranquillity while still being close to amenities and transport links.

Buying a new home in Caerwent will mean you have easy access to surrounding areas such as Newport, Bristol and Cardiff.

Things to see and do

Caerwent’s star attraction is its Roman town. A history lover’s dream, here you can see impressive fourth century walls, excavated houses, a forum-basilica and Romano-British temple.

Continuing with history, Caldicot Castle is a great family attraction that gives you a taste of Welsh castle life from medieval times to the twentieth century.

Set in 55 acres, this is a great place to enjoy lovely peaceful walks.  The River Nedern runs through the park and great views of the surrounding area can be enjoyed from the medieval towers. Whereas kids will be kept busy at the activity station which has a selection of games and puzzles.

A further highlight of the area is Dewstow Gardens and Hidden Grottoes. Built around 1895, the gardens have a fascinating story, having been ‘lost’ for a number of years when they were buried just after World War Two.

They were rediscovered in 2000 and are a great spot for lake side picnics, relaxing walks among wildlife and exploration of the labyrinth of grottoes.

Families looking for a challenge could head to Forest Jump at Celtic Manor, around 7 miles away. This treetop adventure features an aerial assault course with 30 features along the way – ending in a free fall jump.

You can make a splash at Portishead open air pool, situated around 8 miles from Caerwent. The pool is typically heated to around 28ºC so you won’t need to worry about getting cold and with a toddler pool as well, all the family can enjoy a day out at the pool.
