East Kilbride is a thriving market town rich in history - it was Scotland's first designated 'New Town', expanded to provide new housing for people moving from nearby Glasgow. It's definitely worth reading up on its interesting history and taking a tour of the churches.

If you want a more peaceful time, the town has a wide variety of parks, cycle routes and walks to explore ideal to escape your desk and get some fresh air.

There is a good range of sporting facilities too with the Dollan Aqua Centre, an ice rink and various golf courses in the area. The town centre has a large shopping centre and 'The Village', the oldest part of East Kilbride, is home to a variety of restaurants, cafes and pubs.
