Parkfield Primary and Staplegrove Church School are both in Taunton and rated as outstanding by Ofsted, while Yeovil’s Preston CofE is also in the education board’s top bracket. 

Children in Taunton can continue their education at the outstanding Castle School. The Blue School in Wells, Minehead’s West Somerset College and the Kings of Wessex Academy in Cheddar are also good choices. If you live in Bath, Ralph Allen School is a great secondary to send your kids to after they’ve been to Bathwick St Mary CofE Primary. 

Transport links in Somerset

There are decent bus and rail routes in Somerset, although you have to remember that the county is predominantly rural if you’re more used to the frequent transport links of a major city. Having a car is often the best choice of transport for many people, with the M5 motorway starting in the south of the county in Exeter. This runs north past Taunton and Bridgwater, before continuing on to Bristol and Birmingham in the north.
