Essentials on your doorstep

Hexham was voted England's favourite market town by readers of Country Life in 2005, for its mix of charm, accessibility and community spirit that sets it apart from its peers.

The town is served by three major supermarkets, two department stores and a host of high-street shops and smaller independent traders, as well as a good selection of pubs, restaurants and coffee shops.

It has several primary schools within its catchment area and a well-regarded secondary, Queen Elizabeth High School, known to all as QEHS. Its buildings include the Edwardian Winter Gardens and Hydro Hall - formerly the Tynedale Hydropathic Hotel - which is licensed for events.

Evenings and weekends

There's plenty to enjoy in and around Hexham:
Hexham Abbey

Hexham Abbey (a former Priory) dominates the Marketplace in the centre of the town. This stunning building is closely linked to the Christian Heritage of Lidisfarne, St. Cuthbert and St. Wilfrid. The Abbey is home to an interactive exhibition 'The Big Story' which brings to life the Abbey's 1300 year history.

Hadrian's Wall

Hadrian's Wall is Britain's greatest Roman monument and a World Heritage Site. It stretches 73 miles from the North Sea on the east coast, to the Solway Firth on the west coast. The wall is surrounded by beautiful countryside, picturesque villages and walking and cycling routes aplenty.

Queen's Hall Arts Centre

The Queen's Hall Arts Centre is located on Beaumont Street in Hexham town centre. It features a 350-seat theatre which hosts an all year round programme. There are also two galleries that are home to some fantastic exhibitions. The building is shared with Hexham Library and the Exchange Cafe.

Live the life

Living at Woodland Rise means that you can really make the most of town and country.
  • Hexham has an array of local shops, bars and restaurants to explore all within minutes of the development.
  • Amenities include a cinema, race course, various parks, train station and library.
  • A short drive will find you in the stunning Northumberland countryside which has miles of walks and trails to explore.

They’ll help find the best buy-to-let investment mortgages, as well as offering guidance on tax and portfolio planning. Most can also meet you at a time and place that’s convenient for you.

Letting Agents

The right agent can make investing much easier. We have strong relationships with reliable local letting agents who will help you achieve the best rental rates for your property.

Legal Advice

If you need it, we can provide you with a list of fully independent solicitors. Offering fast, effective service at competitive rates, the firms we recommend have handled thousands of transactions for DWH and are familiar with the entire process – meaning less hassle for you.

Quality

Our homes appeal to potential tenants, not just because they look great, but also because we design them to be energy efficient and low maintenance to live in. Our homes have won some of the industry’s most coveted awards for design and quality, and we’re the only major national housebuilder to be awarded the 5 Star Housebuilder Award by the Homebuilders Federation every year since 2009.

Great locations

Decades of UK building experience means we really understand the market – creating homes people desire, in places they want to live. Our properties offer great local amenities and facilities, and are close to major transport links. People like living in David Wilson homes – which makes them great investments.

The buying process

Buying a home follows a set process. Here’s a quick overview, but don’t worry if it seems complicated – our team will be happy to answer any questions you have.

View our detailed guide for more information on the process

Find a solicitor

You’ll need a solicitor that specialises in conveyance to look after all the paperwork. We can put you in touch with one if needs be.

Arrange your mortgage

There are plenty of options to consider when it comes to a mortgage. Once you’ve done your research (or spoken to a mortgage adviser – again, we can put you in touch if you like), you should seek an agreement in principle.

Get a valuation and survey

Your mortgage lender will want confirmation the home is worth what you’re paying for it. They’ll organise the valuation for you – this will involve a fee.

Complete legal work

Your solicitor will look after this for you. It’s all about formally transferring ownership from us to you, and checking there are no legal obstacles in the way.

Exchange contracts

Once the legal work is complete, your solicitor will exchange contracts with us. This is when you pay your deposit and commit to the deal taking place.

Complete and move in

On the date of completion, you become the legal owner of your new home. Collect the keys and make yourself comfy!
