A quick history
Morley was mentioned in the Domesday Book in the 11th century as a settlement next to open moorland, and over the centuries grew around seven hills including Daisy Hill and Chapel Hill. The town became a Municipal Borough in the late 19th century, and a town council was set up in 2000.

Historically Morley is known for its links to the textiles industry, along with quarrying and coal mining, but today the area is close to a wide range of employers. Asda, Jet2.com, Yorkshire Bank and First Direct are based in Leeds, and the Morrisons head office and Yorkshire Water in Bradford.
