New Homes in Southampton

Make the move

Southampton is filled with history and culture, along with great attractions and transport links.

With a convenient location on the South coast, new homes in Southampton are a great choice for all.

Things to see and do

With a great cultural scene, you’ll never be short of things to do in Southampton. From museums and galleries to theatres and music venues, the city is filled with things to see and do.

The SeaCity Museum is in the Cultural Quarter, and showcases Southampton’s connection with the sea. The city’s link to the Titanic is explored here along with further maritime exhibitions and displays.

Southampton City Art Gallery features a permanent art collection, displaying works from eight centuries. Several other exhibitions feature sculpture, drawing, film and photography.

Football fans won’t be disappointed either with Southampton FC, or the ‘Saints’ as they’re known, competing in the Premier League. You won’t have to travel far to watch a game and you can also visit the ground on non-match days.

There are several places for family days out here such as the Alpine Snowsports Centre. Here you can try out your skills on the slopes, whether beginner or advanced.

Beaulieu is another option for a great day out. Located in the New Forest, you can explore the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu Abbey, Palace House and the lovely gardens.  Those looking for a more energetic outing could consider Ambush Paintball and Laser Tag, which is set in several acres of woodland.

The city also has a number of events throughout the year, such as the Sky Ride. The 8km route around the city, for both novice and professional cyclists welcomes around 15,000 participants a year. Sky Ride group rides are also offered at weekends for those wishing to explore the city from the saddle.

Other events include the Kite Festival, Mela Festival, SO Fest, Thai Festival and the BBC Sport Relief Mile event, which hosts around 6,000 participants.

Education facilities

A number of primary and secondary schools can be found in and around Southampton, alongside a number of colleges. Those looking for higher education will find it at Southampton University and Southampton Solent.

Transport Links

Southampton has great transport links by rail, road, air or sea. Located around 75 miles from London and 19 miles from Portsmouth, it’s easily reached from around the UK and further afield.

The M3, M27 and A34 offer easy access to motorists travelling from the North, London and the Home Counties. Those travelling from the West Country, Bristol and Wales can enter via the A36. If you’re travelling from the east of the country, the A27/M27 is the best route, departing at Junction 8.

If you’re travelling by air, Southampton International Airport serves several UK and European destinations, with global onward connections. The airport is easily reached from the city, along the M27 and M3.

Rail users are well served by Southampton Central rail station, which offers direct routes around the country such as London (one hour and 20 minutes), Oxford (one hour and 23 minutes), Birmingham (two hours and 38 minutes), Brighton (one hours and 46 minutes), Leeds (four hours and seven minutes), Manchester (four hours and 14 minutes) and Bristol (one hour and 40 minutes).
