Welcome to Thornton-Cleveleys

Located by the sea just a short drive from Blackpool in the North West, a new home in Thornton-Cleveleys could just tick all the right boxes for your next move.
A quick history
There’s evidence of settlements in the local area as far back as the Iron Age and Roman times, but Thornton was first mentioned in the Domesday Book which was recorded in the 11th century. Up until the 18th century the area was home to only a few people, but once the marshland was drained it became an agricultural region with more residents. Thornton-Cleveleys eventually became an industrial area thanks to the local Salt Works.
Business and industry
ICI was once one of the biggest employers in the local area, and although the company no longer operates in Thornton-Cleveleys, businesses that are currently in the town include manufacturing company Vinnolit and high performance product company Victrex. Employers within commuting distance include the Booths headquarters in Preston, and Warburtons, Eka Chemicals and Fox’s Biscuits in Blackburn.
Things to do in the area
Thornton-Cleveleys is a seaside town with lots of attractions along the coast, including the public art along the promenade at Cleveleys Seafront, along with Jubilee Gardens and the shingle and sand Rossall Beach. There are a number of amusement arcades, shops and cafes in the town centre, while Thornton Little Theatre is ideal for evening entertainment.
