With a 700-year-old market tradition, Mansfield’s market square is at the heart of the town. Several markets are held throughout the week, and you’ll also find a great shopping centre here. 

Mansfield Museum has temporary, permanent and interactive exhibitions, which tell the story of the town. During the summer holidays kids can enjoy taking part in its programme of events.

Easy access to nearby Sherwood Forest gives those buying a new home in Mansfield easy access to the home of Robin Hood. The royal forest is home to some of the oldest trees in Europe, where you can enjoy walks through the woods. Major Oak is a highlight which is still producing acorns after 800 years.

How are the Mansfield transport links?


Mansfield has great transport links to destinations around the country.

For those travelling by car, the town can be reached in around 10 minutes from junctions 27, 28 and 29 of the M1, and in around 18 miles from the A1 in neighbouring Newark-on-Trent. It’s also on the northern terminus of the A38, which runs from Bodmin in Cornwall.

Mansfield railway station is a stop on the Robin Hood Line, which connects the town with Nottingham and Worksop. From Nottingham you can get trains to destinations around the country, with London one hour and 42 minutes away, Birmingham one hour and 14 minutes away and Liverpool just two hours and 44 minutes.

East Midlands is the closest airport to Mansfield; around 30 minutes away by road.
