New Homes in Brixworth

New Homes in Brixworth

Welcome to Brixworth

Whether you’re exploring the great outdoors, enjoying a leisurely round of golf or indulging in some retail therapy, the village of Brixworth is close to lots of great sights and attractions. Located within commuting distance of Leicester and Northampton, a new home in Brixworth is ideal if you’re looking for rural living within easy reach of larger towns and cities.

A quick history

Brixworth is home to one of the most impressive examples of an Anglo-Saxon church in the UK, All Saints’ Church, which dates back to the 7th century. The town was once a stop-off for travellers making their way up and down the country, with a number of coaching inns in the local area. By the 19th century, a Poor Law Union was established, but it was controversially associated with a nearby workhouse.

Historically, industry in the area has centred on quarrying iron ore, and over the 19th and early 20th centuries a number of quarries were opened and closed. The railway line opened in the 1850s, but by the 1960s the station was closed to passengers. The old line is now the Brampton Valley Way.

Business and industry

Located just a short drive from Northampton, many people who live in Brixworth commute to their larger neighbour for work, where employers include Travis Perkins, Mercedes AMG, Avon Cosmetics and Crockett & Jones. Other major businesses operating nearby include Barclaycard and Nationwide Building Society, while Leicester is home to retailer Crown Crest trading as Poundstretcher, and rental company Europcar Group UK.

Things to do in the area

Just a short drive away from Northampton, Brixworth is close to lots of great town centre attractions including the Grosvenor Centre shopping mall, Northampton Museum and Art Gallery and the Royal and Derngate Theatre. Historic sites nearby include Kelmarsh Hall and Gardens, Lamport Hall and Cottesbrooke Hall, while Sywell Aviation Museum is only a short drive away.

For families moving to the area, kid-friendly attractions close to your new home in Brixworth include Northampton and Lamport Railway, Brixworth Country Park and Icarus Falconry. Northamptonshire Golf Club is also nearby.

Travel and commuting

Located within easy reach of the M1, Brixworth is well-connected by road, and although the village doesn’t have its own train station, Northampton has regular rail services to towns and cities across the country. Northampton and Kettering are both just 20 minutes from Brixworth, while Leicester and Coventry can both be reached in around 45 minutes depending on traffic. Travelling further afield, Birmingham is one hour 20 minutes away by car, and London can be reached in two hours by car or one hour 15 minutes by train from Northampton.

When you want to go on holiday, London Luton Airport and Birmingham Airport are both one hour’s drive away from the village, so there’s plenty of choice for your next trip abroad.
