Things to see and do in Shifnal


Haughton Hall is one of the town’s most notable attractions, and this historic country house is today home to a hotel and leisure club. This is a popular place to live for families, with a number of excellent schools to choose between. Shifnal Primary and St Andrew’s CofE Primary are both rated as good by Ofsted and close to the town centre, while the same applies to Captain Webb Primary a few miles west in Doseley. Idsall School is the town’s main secondary school. This is also classed as good by the education board, while Thomas Telford School is outstanding and has a large catchment area which stretches to Shifnal. 


Transport links in Shifnal


The M54 motorway passes just north of Shifnal, providing the town with quick and easy access to Telford less than 10 minutes away. You can continue on for another quarter of an hour to reach Shrewsbury, while it’s a similar journey to Wolverhampton in the opposite direction. Meanwhile, Birmingham is only half an hour away in the car or 40 minutes on the train.
