The area around Keresley dates back to Saxon times, and was a thriving village during the Middle Ages. In the 18th century, farming, wool and weaving industries brought more wealth to the local area. Keresley itself was formed when two villages, Keresley Heath and Keresley Green, merged in 1974. In the early 20th century, the area was home to Coventry Colliery, which brought workers to the village but eventually closed in the 1990s.
