Name that Street

Word on the Street is Pupil's Choice

Pickering Community Infant and Junior School both played a major role in bringing The Gateway to life by helping to design the on-site outdoor areas which will be a major hit with families, including a picnic area, sports facilities and allotments. This involvement meant the pupils jumped at the chance to name the main street that runs through the development.

Jessica and Stephanie suggestion for ‘Woodlands Park’ was selected from a host of ideas put forward. A shortlist was created from the ideas before being submitted to Ryedale District Council where representatives chose the name based on its suitability for the development.

The build so far

The Gateway has been in development since late 2011, with the first families moving in late April/Early May 2012.

Due to its stunning location and luxurious homes, The Gateway is one of David Wilson Homes fasting ever selling developments. We are expected to finish building in winter 2013 and are now building the final phase of the 96 homes.

Meet the team

Claire, The Gateway

Sales Adviser - Claire McCourt

The Gateway has been my favourite development to work on so far. The location is amazing, overlooking the North Yorkshire Moors, at the foot of the National Park in the countryside with only a short walk to the historic town of Pickering.

The customers who have purchased on here are extremely welcoming and have created the most wonderful community on the development.

The most outstanding attribute to the development is the public community park land which David Wilson Homes are developing, opening next year and then gifting to the town of Pickering. The Gateway really is a wonderful place to live and luckily for me, to work also!

The buying process

Buying a home follows a set process. Here’s a quick overview, but don’t worry if it seems complicated – our team will be happy to answer any questions you have.

View our detailed guide for more information on the process

Find a solicitor

You’ll need a solicitor that specialises in conveyance to look after all the paperwork. We can put you in touch with one if needs be.

There are plenty of options to consider when it comes to a mortgage. Once you’ve done your research (or spoken to a mortgage adviser – again, we can put you in touch if you like), you should seek an agreement in principle.

Get a valuation and survey

Your mortgage lender will want confirmation the home is worth what you’re paying for it. They’ll organise the valuation for you – this will involve a fee.

Complete legal work

You solicitor will look after this for you. It’s all about formally transferring ownership from us to you, and checking there are no legal obstacles in the way.

Exchange contracts

Once the legal work is complete, your solicitor will exchange contracts with us. This is when you pay your deposit and commit to the deal taking place.

Complete and move in

On the date of completion, you become the legal owner of your new home. Collect the keys and make yourself comfy!
