The Consumer Code for Home Builders

In April 2010 the National House-Building Council (NHBC), together with MD Insurance Services, introduced the Consumer Code for Home Builders.

The code outlines certain requirements for good practise, procedures and information that home builders must meet to support and protect home buyers through the buying process.

The purpose of the code is to ensure that home buyers:

• Are treated fairly
• Know what service levels to expect
• Are given reliable information upon which to make their decisions
• Know how to access speedy, low-cost dispute-resolution arrangements if they are dissatisfied
