The Environment

At David Wilson Homes, we don't believe in success at any price. We believe we have a responsibility to protect and care for the environment - and we take our responsibilities seriously.

As part of the Barratt Developments PLC, we comply with all legislation, regulations and standards, taking time to identify the environmental implications of our processes and establishing methods of measuring them.
We use recyclable materials in all our homes and ensure we preserve as much of the existing flora and fauna as possible. However, where change is inevitable, we take measures to re-plant mature trees and shrubs, and have been rewarded for our efforts by several prestigious Daily Mail Green Leaf awards.

At regional level our planners work closely with councils and the local community to identify sustainable solutions, and our homes are consistently built on brown and greenfield sites.

We treat existing buildings of character with the respect they deserve, and seek wherever possible to conserve them as an integral part of our development.
Our quest to minimise the environmental impact of our business continues through systematic research. One such example is the funding and construction of an 'Eco-House' in conjunction with The University of Nottingham. The house is used as a test-bed for a host of innovations and new technologies including a heating system powered by a solar chimney and solar collectors that heat water.

Looking ahead, we are constantly refining our environmental policy to work towards greater harmony with the environment and a brighter future for us all.
